FREE – A Poem
Words: Michael Callanan
Artwork: Michael Callanan
I stood so long to gaze at stars
A spider strung its web to me
Yet not afraid
I just felt free
The spider whispered:
‘I agree’
I stood so long to admire the ocean
A ghost crab camped beneath my feet
A freak wave struck
I just felt free
The ghost crab bubbled:
‘I agree’
I stood so long to praise the forest
A tiny vine started climbing me
I let it climb
I just felt free
But vines can’t talk
It strangled me
